Wellesley's state-of-the-art Recycling and Disposal Facility (RDF) is receiving some international recognition.

A recent news story and related article on Public Radio International's (PRI) The World program explored how newly implemented recycling standards in China are affecting recycled product sales worldwide and in Wellesley.

Recycled material in Wellesley generates about $400,000 annually for the town. According to RDF supervisor Jeff Azano-Brown, while Wellesley has experienced a loss in revenue due to the new standards, the RDF is continually reaching out to remind residents to recycle and is building relationships with other countries to sell our recycled product.

"My hope is this story re-emphasizes to residents the importance of recycling and how it benefits both the town and the environment. The RDF is also dedicated to exploring innovative initiatives such as our food waste recycling program to help reduce the amount of waste brought to the dump in the first place, " said Azano-Brown.

Find out what can be recycled at the RDF with this easy-to-use recycling guide.
