** GIS ADMINISTRATOR **
Reporting directly to the GIS Manager, the GIS Administrator coordinates the Town’s GIS software, hardware, and databases. Responsibilities include project planning and implementation, database and application development, and support and training of end users. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a GIS-related field; one year experience in multi-user GIS project management; thorough knowledge of GIS software; experience in conducting user needs analysis and project design; and strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience with ESRI’s Server GIS products and developer tools preferred. The minimum of the salary range is $49,760; the midpoint of the salary range is $62,200. ** PLANNING DIRECTOR **
Under the general policy direction of the Planning Board, the Planning Director is responsible for the municipal planning activities of the Town. The incumbent directs and administers the municipal planning, zoning and subdivision control programs within the Town as delineated by state statute and the Town's Bylaws. The Director serves as the Town's principal professional adviser and resource on planning and development issues, and is responsible for recommending, preparing, and implementing the policies, programs, plans and studies needed to guide both the short-range and long-range development of the Town and address planning and land use issues and opportunities facing the Town. Requires: Master's Degree in municipal planning or related field or equivalent; five years'
municipal planning experience and two years' supervisory experience; working knowledge of the principles and practices of municipal planning; excellent working knowledge of applicable Massachusetts municipal planning, zoning, and subdivision laws and regulations, procurement law and contract management; ability to acquire working knowledge of the Town's General Bylaws and Zoning Bylaws; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to prepare and manage municipal budgets. ** FIRE CHIEF **
The Town of Wellesley, Massachusetts (pop. 27,000) is seeking to fill the position of Fire Chief which is becoming vacant after the retirement of the incumbent after eight years of service as Chief of the Department. The Department consists of 57 fulltime uniformed employees and an operating budget of $4.1 million. Appointed by a five member Board of Selectmen, the Fire Chief serves as the community’s Emergency Manager. Minimum qualifications include: Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science, Business or Public Administration, Master’s preferred; completion of the Massachusetts Chief Fire Officer Management Program, ten years of fire suppression experience as a fulltime uniformed member in an organized fire department and at least four years of experience in a
supervisory capacity. Candidates must have demonstrated experience and skill within the following critical areas: budgeting, crafting collaborative interagency relationships, labor management relations in a unionized environment, pacing change, fireground management, incident command and emergency management. Graduates of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program are encouraged to apply. Hiring range is $105,000 -- $115,000, depending upon qualifications. ** ON-CALL CUSTODIAN **
The Wellesley Free Library is currently looking for one or two on-call custodians. Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor, responsibilities include cleaning the building; assisting with regular and periodic maintenance; cleaning windows and sidewalks; and shoveling snow.
