Astrid Runggaldier and Alex Gantos of Wellesley take
advantage of ideal cross-country skiing conditions
in a picture-perfect setting along the Guernsey Path.
Wellesley’s Wonderful Winterland is waiting for you. Your Trails Committee marks and maintains a network of trails that lets you enjoy the beauty and exhilaration of the outdoors all year ‘round. And you don’t even have to load up the Suburban and head north.
With trail access probably less than five minutes away from any house in town, you can virtually cross-country ski in your own back yard – or snowshoe – or just put your boots on and tromp.
Our trails can take you and your skis through some of the prettiest woods in Wellesley. Try the WCC Guernsey Sanctuary Trail along Sabrina Lake, or the Guernsey Path along the Charles, or the Longfellow Pond Trail. And don’t forget the Crosstown Trail – the western section at Morses Pond and the easternmost section from Woodland to Cedar Street.
If you prefer open fields and gentle slopes, we have those for you, too. How about the Centennial Trail? Or you can take the Beard Trail with its through connection to the slopes at Ridge Hill Reservation.
We also recommend cross-country skiing at night. There’s a whole new beauty and quietness about the woods at night, and the ambient light reflected off the snow is ample for navigating many of the trails.
Maps can be found at all map houses in the trail system or downloaded from our Web site.
