What is eBill?
eBill is an Electronic Bill Payment Service which allows Bill Payers an easy and secure method to pay bills online. eBill is a service offering from MCC (Metropolitan Communications, LLC).
How does eBill work?
The Town of Wellesley sends bill information to MCC where it is processed and made available for you.
You can then log into the Town’s website or eBill and pay your bills.
You will receive an email to notify you when your payment has been posted to Wellesley’s records. You can also view the current status and payment history of all eBill payments.
All information gathered is on an encrypted, secure server and is not sold or released for any reason other than to complete a transaction.
Registering is easy and requires minimal information from you.
1. Complete the online registration questions including name, address, and password.
2. You will receive an email indicating your Client ID and Activation Number for accessing eBill for the first time.
3. Return to the eBill home page and login with your Username, Password, and when prompted, your Activation number. You are ready to pay bills on eBill.
4. After registering once, you can pay all future Real Estate and Motor Vehicle Excise taxes.
Which Bills Can I Pay?
The Town of Wellesley initiated this process with its Real Estate Tax bills only. In February, 2005, this payment service was expanded to the Motor Vehicle Excise bills. The Town of Wellesley utilities can be paid electronically, but not through this eBill system. Call (781) 235-7600 and ask for customer service to obtain information on the utility direct payment system.
What forms of payment can be used on eBill?
eBill currently accepts payments by ACH transfer (electronic check) from a checking or savings account. Payments are also available by using your debit or credit card (American Express, Discover, or Master Card only).
What are the costs for using eBill?
There are no signup costs or subscription fees for using eBill.
The convenience fee when using an ACH transfer (electronic check) from your checking or savings account is $0.25 per transaction.
The convenience fee when using credit cards is a percentage-based fee that varies depending on the card you use. The convenience fee is automatically calculated based upon the type of credit card used and the dollar amount of the bill being paid. The fee is generally around 3% of the bill.
There are no fees imposed by MCC for returned payments, however your bank may charge you a fee based on the bank’s fee schedule.
May I pay my tax bill by credit card at the Treasurer's Office?
No, we are only permitted to accept credit card payments online via eBill.
May I schedule my electronic payment for a day in the future (say, August 1 or November 1)?
Yes, eBill now offers that service for ACH payments. You just have to make sure that you have enough funds in your account at that time.
If I have additional questions or I am having trouble registering for eBill, who should I call?
If you are having trouble registering for eBill, please call eBill's customer service center at 978-562-6349. The Treasurer/Collector’s office (781-431-1019 x2266) can answer basic questions.
