Wellesley is working to develop mobility options to expand access to key areas of our community for all residents. The Sustainable Mobility Plan addresses both sustainability and transportation in an effort to reduce the Town's largest source of greenhouse gas emissions.
The Town has set a goal to achieve net zero emissions by the year 2050.
Sustainable mobility highlights transportation modes and the supporting infrastructure to increase access while reducing environmental impacts, inefficiencies, and costs. Along with traditional travel options, there are new technologies and innovative project designs that will allow Wellesley to identify, test, and prioritize new modes for moving people and, with the current growth in e-commerce, packages.
Through creative and collaborative efforts, Wellesley is exploring current practices and emerging trends in travel and sustainability to help determine short, mid, and long-term goals and action plans to provide greener travel options in our community.
