Central Street (Route 135) will be closed starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, April 30 from Weston Road to the Natick line. The road will re-open at 5 a.m. on Monday, May 3.
Bacon Street will also be closed from the Natick line to Central Street (Route 135).
The closure is due to continued work on the Bacon Street railroad bridge.
Traffic in the Wellesley Square area near Weston Road will be severely impacted during this closure. Traffic in Natick is also expected to be impacted in the East Central Street, Union Street, Bacon Street, and Oak Street areas near the Wellesley line.
Detours will be in place directing motorists to either Route 9 or Washington Street to access points west. Access to Wellesley College can be made via the Washington Street entrance.
Any changes or updates to the road closure will be posted in real time on the Wellesley Police Department's Twitter and Facebook page.
Following the weekend work, travel on Bacon Street will be detoured from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, beginning on May 3 and continuing for the next four to six weeks.
Contractors will be assembling the steel, bolting and welding for the new bridge superstructure.
A detour route will be in place and accessible on the Bacon Street Bridge project website.
