The Wellesley-Needham Power Puff Flag Football game was held this year on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Needham High School. The annual tradition puts the Wellesley High School Senior Class Women up against the Needham High School Senior Class Women in a Flag Football game. The game precedes the annual Wellesley-Needham High School Football game held on Thanksgiving Day.
Both teams are coached by member of the Needham and Wellesley Police Departments. This year, the Wellesley team was coached by Sergeant Will Griffin and Officer Evan Rosenberg with assistance from School Resource Officer Matt Wall. The Senior Class Women practice on their own time after school in the weeks prior to the game with the Wellesley Police supported by Chief Jack Pilecki.

The game wasn’t played last year due to COVID concerns and restrictions. Wellesley previously won in 2019.
Although a close game on a chilly day, Needham eked out a win 27-21. Needham will now hold on to the trophy for the next year, until Wellesley wins in 2022.
Wellesley High School triumphed over Needham on Thanksgiving Day in overtime, 34-28, during the 134th playing of the oldest high school football rivalry in the nation.
