Honoring Those Who Served

US Flag Backlit

Each year, Wellesley remembers the military veterans who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

On May 8, members of Wellesley American Legion Post 72 and Town Graves and Ceremonial Officer Joe Oliveri were joined by a group of Wellesley residents and volunteers from other communities to mark or redress more than 800 veterans’ graves at Woodlawn Cemetery with a flag or medallion.

Thank you to Board of Selectmen chair, Jack Morgan, the Wellesley Fire Department, Wellesley Police Department, Wellesley Scouting Troops, Wellesley Youth Hockey Association and many others for their assistance. Watch this Wellesley Media video to learn the story behind this annual event honoring "Those Who Served."

This event is part of many activities in May to honor all current and departed veterans for their service.

The 51st Annual Wellesley Veterans' Parade and Fireworks is planned for Sunday, May 19. This year's theme is the 75th Anniversary of D-day.

The Town of Wellesley's annual Memorial Day observances will take place on Thursday, May 30.
