Due to increases in COVID-19 cases, Massachusetts is revising current restrictions for gatherings and indefinitely delaying next steps in the plan to reopen the Commonwealth.
Effective on Tuesday, August 11:
- Outdoor gatherings will be limited to 50 people. The limit for indoor events remains at 25 people.
- Revised restrictions apply to gatherings on both public and private property.
- Face coverings or masks will be required when more than 10 people from different households are mixed.
These new requirements may be enforced by state and local police officers; violators could be subject to fines up to $500. More guidelines are expected.
Wellesley has seen a slight increase in positive COVID-19 cases recently. While public health indicators show our community is continuing to do relatively well in helping slow the spread of Coronavirus, the Health Department is urging residents to keep wearing masks or face coverings when out in the community.
In many cases, even when outdoors, social distancing is not possible and it is better to be safe and wear your mask.
Vote-by-Mail applications are processed daily. Voters who requested ballots for both the State Primary and the Board of Selectmen Special Election may not receive them at the same time due to processing and/or the US Postal Service. Please wait a few days before contacting the elections office.
