Revised Gatherings Order in Effect on Aug. 11

Coronavirus News

Outdoor gatherings in Massachusetts are limited to 50 people beginning on Tuesday, August 11, 2020.

Governor Baker announced the Revised Order Regulating Gatherings late last week.

To help residents adhere to these revised restrictions, the Board of Selectmen will not be issuing permits for yard, garage, and estate sales and block parties until further notice.

Indoor gatherings remain limited to 8 people per 1,000 square feet and never more than 25 people in an enclosed space.

All participants in both indoor and outdoor gatherings must stay 6 feet apart, unless they are members of the same household.

For gatherings of 10 or more people, whether indoors or outdoors, masks or face coverings are required for anyone over the age of 2. However, the Wellesley Health Department give parents discretion over masks for children ages 2-5.

The restrictions apply to all public and private venues and locations including private homes, backyards, parks, athletic fields, and parking lots.

The Order also limits programs, celebrations, social events and similar activities that draw large groups of people. Exceptions are allowed for polling places, courts, health care facilities and other businesses, organizations or workplaces specifically listed in the Order.

A violation of this Order may result in fines of $500 per day.
