Work to redesign the Great Plain Avenue rotary in Wellesley continues to move forward.
This Department of Public Works project is changing the intersection at Great Plain Avenue/Route 135 and Wellesley Avenue into a roundabout to help calm traffic, improve safety, and make the area more accessible for cars, bicycles, and pedestrians.
Beginning on Monday, November 23 through Wednesday, November 25, crews will begin installing curbs for the circular island and surrounding roadways. This work will require periodic lane shifts and some temporary traffic delays during the daytime.
Police officers will be on site to direct traffic through this area.
Work is also continuing on new sidewalks, ADA crossing ramps, and street lights that offer increased, safe mobility for everyone using the roundabout.
Final roadway paving and road markings are weather dependent. Visit the Great Plain Avenue project webpage on the Town website for the most current information.
