Praised by the Boston Musical Intelligencer for her “quality” and “longevity of phrasing”, Washington native and cellist Audrey Chen has performed around the world in venues including Carnegie Hall, the Mariinsky Theatre, Royal Albert Hall, and the Kennedy Center. She has appeared on NPR’s From the Top Radio Show, concertized with the Seattle Symphony and the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra, and has been featured as a guest artist with the Boston Chamber Music Society, Silk Road Ensemble, Parker Quartet, Borromeo Quartet, and the Boston-based A Far Cry.
Her festival appearances include the Ravinia Steans Music Institute, Perlman Music Program Chamber Music Workshop, Tanglewood Music Center, Taos School of Music, and Sarasota Music Festival. A graduate of the Harvard/NEC dual degree program, Audrey received her B.A. from Harvard and her M.M. in cello performance from NEC the subsequent year. Her principal cello teachers include Laurence Lesser and LluisClaret. In her spare time, Audrey enjoys watching films, cooking/baking, and making greeting cards.
