At the February 11, 2025 meeting, the School Committee received and discussed the following presentations:
The Committee heard a presentation on the biennial MetroWest Health Survey Results (from the Fall 2023 Administration). PreK-12 Director of Fitness and Health, Joanne Grant, and Director of Curriculum, Assessment, and Accountability, Dr. Hannah Tolla, led this presentation. Discussion followed with Dr. Jamie Chisum, WHS Principal, and Dr. Mark Ito, WMS Principal, contributing their perspectives on challenges and progress to mental health issues within their student communities.
The Committee heard an update from the Administration on the work of the Future of Preschool Task Force, which is moving to make recommendations to the School Committee by the end of the current school year. Kristin Stacy, Interim Director of Early Childhood, P.A.W.S. Preschool and Dr. Kat Bernklow, Director of Student Services, led the discussion.
The Committee heard an update from School Committee Chair, Linda Chow, on the ATM Warrant Article19 - Team Room Construction. These team rooms will fulfill a critical need for locker room space. The project is in the midst of Task II, Permitting Assistance, 60% Design Document, with Engineering firm Weston & Sampson, with at least 6 more weeks of work expected.
The Committee discussed revisions to the School Committee policies, JG-R - Elementary Transfer Option and BDBC - Wellesley METCO Representative to Wellesley School Committee.
The Committee approved revisions to School Committee Policies: BPIP - Bullying Prevention and
Intervention Plan and KDB - Public’s Right to Know.
