At the June 20, 2025 meeting, the School Committee received and discussed the following presentations:
The Committee approved two Performing Arts job descriptions presented by Dave Turcotte, Director of Human Resources, and Laura Saracino, Director of Performing Arts. The first job description, Theater Technician, represents the restructuring of two existing positions. The proposed job title, Theater Technician, would be part of the stipend positions listed in all collective bargaining agreements. The goal is to hire at least two individuals to execute these job functions at WMS and WHS. This role will not involve teaching a course to students, so rather than have the work assigned as a Unit A position, the job functions will be more appropriately categorized as a stipended role available to all members of all bargaining units. The second job description, Accompanist, represents a revision of an existing role. The new job description indicates that Accompanists may be assigned to work in different buildings, and there are also some revisions that keep the structure of the document consistent with other Unit C job descriptions.
The Committee approved the proposed new Unit E collective bargaining agreement, representing the Department of Educational Technology, Technology Support Professionals. The administration reviewed the broad strokes of this agreement with the Committee in Executive Session on 6/10/25, and again, publicly, at the 6/18/2025 Committee meeting. The negotiations for this bargaining unit began almost two years ago. It is the first contract for this bargaining unit and it is a two year contract, retroactive to 7/1/2024. It has been ratified by the WEA members.
The Committee would like to recognize the tremendous efforts of all teachers, staff and administrators for a successful school year! The Committee wishes the WPS community and the Wellesley community a relaxing and restful summer!
