Volunteers are, and have always been, an integral part of Wellesley Town Government. These dedicated community members, elected or appointed, make policy, serve on committees, give of their time and talents, and make the Town what it is. The Select Board is charged with making a number of these appointments to town boards which is done annually in late spring for the next fiscal year that begins on July 1.

The Select Board follows its Appointments Policy to select individuals to serve on boards/committees, including:

- Climate Action Committee
- Council on Aging
- Cultural Council
- Historic District Commission
- Historical Commission
- Kepes Panel Committee
- Municipal Light Board
- Veterans Advisory Board
- Veterans Graves Officer
- Youth Commission
- Zoning Board of Appeals, Associate Members
