The Town of Needham is proud to be a Purple Heart Town. At the July 21, 2015 Board of Selectmen meeting, now know as the Select Board, members were presented the Certificate of Acknowledgement by the Department of Massachusetts Combat Wounded Veterans Military Order of the Purple Heart, thus designating Needham as a Purple Heart Town.
As part of a continued effort to honor the men and women of the Town of Needham who have served bravely in the Armed Forces, the Board of Selectmen proclaimed August 7 as annual Purple Heart Day in the Town of Needham.
