Wellesley is proactively preparing for the effects of Hurricane Lee.
Currently for our area, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is predicting that the storm will be similar to a moderately strong Nor’easter. We may receive 1 to 3 inches of rain and possible wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph that are expected to peak mid-morning on Saturday and diminish by Sunday.
Should this result in power outages and downed trees, Department of Public Works (DPW) and Wellesley Municipal Light Plant (WMLP) crews will be on-call throughout the storm and ready to help with clean-up efforts.
If the weather causes downed trees or flooding, the Town’s first priority is to keep roads open for emergency vehicles. If a power outage occurs, DPW and WMLP will work together to quickly restore power.
At this time, the Recycling and Disposal Facility (RDF) will be open for regular weekend hours.

What You Can Do
To help the Town, residents are encouraged to clear any debris from catch basins on their street and remove debris on property that may obstruct catch basins. Be sure to secure or store personal items such as toys, lawn furniture, sun umbrellas, etc. If you have pets, keep them indoors until the storm subsides.
Homeowners who experience flooding emergencies on private property should contact the Wellesley Fire Department.
