[ARCHIVED] WPD Press Release: Central Street Investigation

Central 2On 12/27/23 at 9:15 AM, the Wellesley Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting an unconscious, unresponsive 70 year old person on Central Street near Weston Road.  Wellesley Police Officers responded to the area and located the victim next to a Wellesley College walking path close to Central Street in a slightly wooded area. 

The person who reported the incident was performing CPR on the victim when the officers arrived.  Wellesley Police Officers continued to perform CPR on the victim .  The Wellesley Fire Department and Cataldo Paramedics arrived on scene shortly thereafter to continue medical care.  

Unfortunately, the victim was not able to be revived and was pronounced dead on scene.  Wellesley Police Officers and Detectives, the Massachusetts State Police, and Wellesley College Police are investigating the incident.  This type of investigation occurs whenever there is an untimely death and is a normal procedure.   The victim is not believed to have any connection to Wellesley College.

The Medical Examiner removed the victim from the scene.  The investigation is ongoing and no further details are being released at this time.
