On January 9, 2024, the Wellesley Select Board voted to promote Officer Brian Shore to the rank of sergeant following a recommendation from Wellesley Police Chief Jack Pilecki. The promotional process consists of a written test, a full day assessment center, and a formal interview with a panel consisting of the Police Chief, Deputy Chief, and Lieutenants.
Officer Shore holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University and is a ten-year veteran of the Wellesley Police Department. During his tenure with the department, Officer Shore has served as a field training officer, background investigator, an FAA certified drone pilot, and is a member of the Department’s Aviation/Drone Unit. Additionally, Officer Shore is assigned to the Department’s Crisis Intervention Team, a member of the Peer Support Team, and the department liaison for the Norfolk County Substance Use Disorder Initiative.
Chief Pilecki noted that Officer Shore strives to make a positive difference in the community. He is a devoted and knowledgeable member of the department, in which many of his peers look to him for guidance as an informal leader. He has fostered relationships with community members and will often make time during his patrol shift to visit business owners in the town.
Newly promoted Sergeant Shore was joined by many of his family and colleagues from the Wellesley Police Department at the Select Board meeting. The sergeant badge was pinned on him for the first time by his wife.
The Wellesley Police Department congratulates Sergeant Shore on his work and dedication to the community and wishes him well in his new role within the department.
