Wellesley High School will debut new, state-of-the-art lights on Hunnewell Track and Field this fall. After more than three years of planning, these lights will be used for varsity sports events.
The first night game will be held on Tuesday, September 10 when the boys’ varsity soccer team plays Brookline at 6 p.m.
The WHS field hockey team and the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams will each play two night games this fall, and all four varsity home football games will be played “under the lights.” The first football night game will be Saturday, September 28 at 6 p.m.
The full sports schedule and more information is posted on the WPS website.
All members of our community are invited to attend games and help support our student athletes. Tickets for all night games, regardless of the sport, will be $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. Children under 6 will be admitted free.
Night Game Guidance
For night games, WHS will be following similar parking rules as those used for graduation. No parking will be available on Rice, State, Smith, Clifford, Forest, and Seaver Streets. See this link for attendee guidance and an area parking map.
Attendees are expected to respect and support the neighborhood by following all traffic and parking rules, keeping the field and surrounding areas clean, and minimizing noise before and after the games.
Wellesley Public Schools is grateful to the Natural Resources Commission, the Department of Public Works and other town partners for their support, and to the Wellesley community for raising the funds to install the lights. Learn more about this project.
