Wellesley DPW Touch-A-Truck / Fill-A-Truck / Suits for Success Event
Celebrate National Public Works Week as we recognize the outstanding efforts of Wellesley DPW staff and get an up close look at big trucks. Visit the DPW on Saturday, May 17 from 9:00 a.m. to noon as part of Wellesley's Wonderful Weekend. A sensory hour is planned from 11:00 a.m. to noon. During the sensory hour there will be no lights, no music, and no horn honking.
A variety of equipment will be open for visitors to explore during the Touch-A-Truck event at DPW Headquarters (30 Municipal Way). Take a look at our electric equipment, dump trucks, street sweepers, front loaders and more. See our informational displays where you can learn more about food waste recycling options, the Water & Sewer Customer portal, the RDF app, and more.
This is a rain or shine event. In case of severe weather, we will move the event into our garage bays.
StepUp! Add to our donation efforts this year and donate business clothing to Suits for Success being donated to Needham Town Council. This organization helps provide appropriate attire for men and women to wear to employment interviews. One suit can help change someone’s life.
Bring a non-perishable food donation to help Fill-A-Truck! All donated food will go to the Wellesley Food Pantry which currently serves approximately 420 clients and about 200 households in town. One third of the clients are children 18 years old and younger. Desired donations include:
- Peanut butter (16oz jars, creamy and crunchy)
- Chicken broth in cartons, unsalted
- Canned red, baked, and refried beans
- Canned peas
- Tomato paste
- Canned whole tomatoes
- Applesauce (unsweetened, jars and cups)
