The Town of Wellesley will hold its Memorial Day observance on Friday, May 30. The public is invited to attend.
The event will begin with a brief ceremony at 7 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery (148 Brook Street) near the flagpole to honor the resident Veterans who died during the past year.
Remembrances continue at 7:30 p.m. at the Wellesley War Memorial in front of Town Hall (525 Washington Street).
The program includes readings and poems, a keynote address by Wellesley Veteran Todd Bowers, recognizing all residents killed in action from the Revolutionary War to present day, and a Wellesley Police Department honor guard salute.
During the ceremony at the War Memorial, Washington Street (Route 16) will be closed between Brook Street and Grove Street until about 8:30 p.m.
If the weather is bad, the event will move indoors to the Great Hall at Wellesley Town Hall.
