Wellesley native Michael McManus will fill vacant positions on the Board of Public Works and the Municipal Light Board.
His appointment to both Boards was unanimously approved on Tuesday, July 22 during a joint meeting of the Select Board and the Board of Public Works. Michael is replacing long-term Board member Ellen Korpi, who recently retired after many years of Town service.
A retired chemist and software executive, he brings a deep and varied background to the Town's public works projects.
In recommending him for this position, current BPW members highlighted his scientific and technical experience, and how it will help both the DPW and the MLP in evaluating solutions and making data-driven decisions on issues facing our community.
Most recently, Michael volunteered as an Energy Coach with the MLP, helping educate residents who want to switch from fossil fuels to electricity-powered air source heat pumps. This free, personalized coaching is available to all residents.
Michael's appointment runs until the March 2026 election, and he plans to run for the full three -year BPW term at that time.
