Here are some key things to know in Wellesley for the week of August 25, 2025.
WPS Starts on August 27
Wellesley Public Schools students go back to school on Wednesday, August 27. Please use extra caution when driving around town and give yourself extra time to get to your destination. Traffic patterns shift in the mornings and afternoons with drop-off and pick-up times, and there will be lots of kids walking and biking to school. A reminder that elementary schools have half-day Wednesdays with dismissal at noon every week.
Weston Road Construction Update
Most of the drainage work along Weston Road is complete and crews will begin installing granite curbing during the next few weeks. Sidewalk construction and ADA ramp installation will follow. This work will continue throughout the fall. Work hours are Monday through Friday, and beginning on August 27, the road closure schedule will be adjusted to fit school schedules. The road will be completely closed to everyone but Weston Road residents, and detours will be in place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. At other times, expect one-lane closures. Drivers should plan to use other routes. Weston Road business are open and accessible via Route 9. Please support these local retailers.
Labor Day Holiday & Town Hall Hours
All municipal buildings and departments, and the RDF, will be closed on Monday, September 1 for Labor Day. Regular business hours resume on September 2. Departments at Wellesley Town Hall provide services to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please check the Town website for specific open and closed hours as those may vary slightly by department.
