Here are key things to know in Wellesley for the week of September 22, 2025. 

Special Town Meeting Public Hearing
The Advisory Committee will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, September 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Great Hall to get input on the Special Town Meeting Warrant. Special Town Meeting is scheduled for November 3 and November 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Wellesley High School auditorium. Read the Special Town Meeting Warrant. Motions for articles on the Warrant must be submitted to the Select Board Office by Friday, September 26 at 5:00 p.m. 

REMINDER: Candidates are needed to fill Town Meeting member vacancies in Precincts A, C, and D. Nominations are due next week; candidates may nominate themselves. Please contact Town Clerk KC Kato for information. Special Elections for these Town Meeting seats will take place in early October. 

MassBay Development Proposal Community Meetings
On Thursday, September 25 at 6:00 p.m. attend a community meeting in the MassBay Community College Library (50 Oakland Street) to hear about a proposal to develop housing on part of the MassBay Community College campus. The proposal is coming forward under the Massachusetts Affordable Homes Act, which allows the Commonwealth to dispose of state-owned land to build housing at a minimum density of four units per acre. Give input at the meeting or email OaklandStreet@wellesleyma.gov to ask questions. A second community meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 8 at 6:00 p.m. 

Housing Search Services
The MetroWest Collaborative Development is offering FREE one-on-one housing search counseling sessions for individuals in Wellesley, Weston, Natick, Needham, and Newton. This program is funded by Newton-Wellesley Hospital. To participate, visit the MetroWest Collaborative Development website and complete the 5-Town Assistance form. 

Weston Road Construction Update
Milling and paving work will take place on Weston Road from Sunday, September 28 through Friday, October 3. This phase will require both overnight and daytime work; the road will be closed and detours in place. Information on the planned schedule and answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are on the Department of Public Works (DPW) webpages and letters have been sent to all homeowners in the affected area. Only school buses and local traffic will have access. Wellesley Police Department detail officers and DPW staff will be on-site to guide people through this area. Please Note: If possible, drivers should use alternate routes to access this area next week. Email DPW with questions or concerns

Rosh Hashanah is Monday, September 22 through Wednesday, September 24. Shanah tovah to all who are celebrating! Wellesley Public Schools are closed on Tuesday, September 23; municipal buildings are open.
