The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) continues to make service changes due to low ridership caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
These plans are part of the MBTA "Forging Ahead" initiative which aims to provide essential service now to meet current demands and offer flexibility in the future if revenue and ridership increase.
In March, riders will see changes to the MBTA bus and subway networks. Frequency on some bus and subway lines will decrease, and bus routes may be eliminated, shortened, or combined. The MBTA Commuter Rail, which serves Wellesley, will undergo scheduling changes starting on April 5.
To prepare riders for these changes, the MBTA is holding virtual meetings on Wednesday, February 17 and Wednesday, February 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Participants can ask questions and give feedback. Register in advance for these meetings. Interested residents who are unable to make the virtual meetings can also submit questions during the "Forging Ahead" weekly coffee chats.
More information on "Forging Ahead" including environmental review information is available on the MBTA website.
