UPDATE-BACON STREET TO BE CLOSED DURING THE DAY AT ROUTE 135 (CENTRAL STREET) FOR BRIDGE WORK STARTING MAY 10.
Beginning Monday, May 10th and continuing for the remainder of May, Bacon Street will be closed at Route 135 from 8am to 3pm each day, Monday through Friday. Route 135 (Central Street) will remain completely open but no traffic will be able to cross under the bridge going to or coming from Bacon Street.
The previous night closure of Bacon Street will no longer be in effect.
This is due to the ongoing work on the MBTA railroad bridge. Concerns and complaints can be forwarded to BaconStBridge@MBTA.com.
Previous Closure No Longer In Effect:
The MBTA will be closing a portion of Bacon Street at the intersection of Route 135 (Central Street) for bridge work starting on April 11, 2021. The closure will be nightly, generally starting at 8 PM and re-opening at 5 AM the following morning. Traffic on Route 135 will not be affected. There will be a detour in place for Bacon Street.
.
Additionally, there will also be a full weekend of demolition work from 8:00 PM on Friday, April 23 to 5:00 AM on Monday, April 26. More updates and information will be posted regarding that full closure (which will likely effect Route 135) will be posted as the date approaches.
Variable messaging boards will be installed before any major construction and will display the most up-to-date information. Signage will indicate detour routes. MBTA Transit Police will be on scene to assist with the traffic closures.
