Congratulations to Veterans Services Officer (VSO) Sarada Kalpee who was recently promoted to First Sergeant, United States Army Reserves. 
1SG Kalpee is the first woman in her battalion to achieve this rank. Her promotion ceremony took place on Friday, August 13 with her two children pinning on her new rank.
In her work as a director and VSO for the West Surburban Veterans' District, Kalpee assists our local veterans with benefits, training programs, housing, and medical services. She returned this summer from a one-year deployment at the Horn of Africa.
Her military responsibilities increase with her promotion, and she could be deployed again.
VSO Nancy Blanchard, also in the U.S. Army Reserves will continue to work with 1SG Kalpee to ensure our veterans get the information and assistance they need.
The West Suburban Veterans' Services District serves Wellesley, Weston, Wayland, Westwood, and Needham.
