[ARCHIVED] Wellesley Police Go PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

WPD 2021 Pink Cruiser

The Wellesley Police Department has once again gone pink in October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.    Wellesley Police Officers will be wearing a pink pin on their uniform, and in some cases, pink Wellesley Police patches.  Wellesley Police cruiser 1408 will also be sporting a ‘fierce pink’ color for the month.   1408 is assigned to Officer Kathy Poirier during the day, as one of the department’s School Resource Officers.   1408 is assigned to patrol during the evening hours.

Pink BannerBreast Cancer Awareness month is intended to raise awareness about the disease that affects 1 in 8 woman.   Early detection is critical to treatment, as some 200,000 new cases will be diagnosed in the next year.

For the past two years, Wellesley Police Chief Jack Pilecki has had a fully marked police cruiser re-painted in pink for October.  The paint is temporary, and is peeled off in November, restoring the car to the normal department colors.  This year, the pink cruiser was featured in the Wellesley Parade, driven by Chief Pilecki.

Chief Pilecki also had a banner placed on the Wellesley Police Department building for October.
