[ARCHIVED] CDC Expands COVID-19 Booster Guidance

Wellesley Public Health Banner

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is recommending additional COVID-19 boosters for some individuals.

On March 29, the CDC updated its COVID-19 vaccine guidelines to allow certain immunocompromised individuals and those over age 50 who received a booster at least four months ago, to get a second booster dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.

Adults who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and booster at least four months ago are also eligible for a Pfizer or Moderna booster.

These recommendations are intended to increase protection for people who are at risk for severe disease due to their age or because of specific underlying medical conditions.

The Wellesley Health Department is holding two upcoming COVID-19 vaccine clinics on:

  • Thursday, April 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. - Health Department office (90 Washington Street)
  • Thursday, May 14 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. - Health Department office (90 Washington Street)

Nurses will be offering the Moderna vaccine with both first and second doses, and booster doses available.

These clinics are free and open to all individuals 18 years and older. You do not need to live in Wellesley to attend the clinic. Sign up online for an appointment.

If you have questions or need assistance signing up for an appointment, contact the Health Department at 781-489-4356.
