On Monday, June 6, the Wellesley Select Board and Police Chief Jack Pilecki promoted Sergeant Bob Gallagher to the rank of Lieutenant.
Lieutenant Gallagher joined the Wellesley Police Department 17 years ago. During his tenure with the department, Lt. Gallagher worked as a police officer, a detective, a patrol sergeant, and a detective sergeant. Prior to joining Wellesley, Lt. Gallagher worked for the Maynard Police Department for 7 years.
Lt. Gallagher has spent most of his career working as a detective and running investigations. He has extensive training in forensics and evidence processing. He is a certified forensic photographer, latent fingerprint examiner, and a senior crime scene analyst. Many of his certifications were obtained when he graduated from the University of Tennessee’s National Forensic Academy (NFA).
In addition to his supervisory duties, Lt. Gallagher often teaches various evidence gathering and scene processing techniques, both locally to members of the Wellesley Police Department, and nationally to other law enforcement agencies.
With all his certifications and skills, Lieutenant Gallagher is best known throughout our department as a mentor and leader. He is always available to help, and never misses an opportunity to pass on the knowledge he has to other officers during real world cases.
Lieutenant Gallagher will command the Bureau of Criminal Investigation as a Lieutenant Detective going forward.
