The MetroWest Regional Transit Authority (MWRTA) is revising public transportation schedules beginning on June 19, 2023.
The changes include adding a second bus to serve the Route 1 fixed route, and re-routing the service to include more locations in Wellesley.
Here’s what you need to know about the Route 1 bus:
- Will now have a second bus during peak morning and evening commuter hours, providing riders with additional frequency.
- Service will be re-routed and more stops will be added in Wellesley. Instead of using Route 9 to travel between the Natick Mall and Woodland Station, the bus will pick up and drop off in Wellesley at Cross Street in Wellesley Square, Babson College, and MassBay Community College before traveling to Woodland Station. The bus will follow the reverse route from Woodland Station through Wellesley.
The revised schedule for Route 1 and other fixed route services are posted on the MWRTA website homepage. Scheduled times are approximate, and riders are encouraged to get to the bus stop about ten minutes ahead of time to not miss the bus.
The MWRTA uses the "flag down" system - wave down a bus in transit along the route and the bus will stop as long as it is safe.
Fare Information
Fares for fixed route buses vary and may be paid by cash, using a pre-loaded CatchCard, or by purchasing a monthly pass. Visit the MWRTA Fares webpage for complete details.
