Peak Alert! Oppressive heat is predicted for Friday, July 28 and the demand for electricity will peak between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
For the third day in a row, the Wellesley Municipal Light Plant is urging customers to voluntarily cut back energy use during this time. This does not mean there is a shortage of electricity. However, reducing electricity demand during the peak period will help reduce both energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
Ways to reduce electric use include turning air conditioner thermostats up a few degrees, turning off car chargers, dehumidifiers, pool filters, clothes dryers, and any other unnecessary appliances.
The peak period is expected to pass by 9:00 p.m. and you can resume normal use.
Thank you for your cooperation!
