The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is proposing changes to flood hazard areas in Wellesley.
The proposed changes may include additions or modifications of Special Flood Hazard Areas - areas that would be inundated by the base (1-percent-annual-chance) flood; base flood elevations or depths; zone designations; or regulatory floodways.
This information is included in recently developed Preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) reports that can be viewed on Flood Map Changes Viewer (arcgis.com) or the Town of Wellesley Proposed FEMA Flood Zones Map.
If finalized, these proposed determinations will become the basis for floodplain management measures that Wellesley must adopt to remain qualified for the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
Officials and community members are encouraged to review this information before it is finalized. Any appeals must be filed by Thursday, November 30, 2023.
Data and information related to these appeals should be sent to Wellesley Planning Director Eric Arbeene at earbeene@wellesleyma.gov
