Here are some key events and activities taking place in Wellesley for the week of June 16.
One-day Per Week Watering Restrictions Lifted
The Board of Public Works (BPW) is meeting on Monday, June 16 to rescind the current one day per week residential watering restrictions in Wellesley. The Level 1 drought status has been lifted for our area. However, if conditions change, especially in the upcoming warmer summer months, restrictions may be put in place again. Homeowners are encouraged to continue to follow water conservation practices this summer by watering deeply and less frequently to promote healthy root growth and more tolerant landscaping. Read tips for healthy lawns and landscaping on the NRC webpages.
MassDOT I-95 & I-90 Closures
MassDOT will be closing portions of I-95 and I-90/Mass Pike this week as part of the continuing work on the Newton/Weston bridge rehabilitation project at the I-90/I-95 interchange.
- On Wednesday, June 18 the exit ramp from I-95 northbound to Route 30 at Exit 39A will be closed overnight between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. Drivers will be detoured to Exit 41 and must backtrack to Exit 39.
- On Friday, June 20 - Sunday, June 22, I-90/Mass Pike will once again be reduced to one lane in each direction while crews continue replacing the highway bridge over the MBTA tracks. The lane closures may cause significant backups for drivers. Also during this weekend, MBTA commuter rail service on the Framingham/Worcester line will be replaced by free shuttle buses at the Wellesley Square and Wellesley Hills stops. (There is no service for Wellesley Farms this weekend).
Drivers are encouraged to avoid this area if possible. Signage, law enforcement details, and message boards are in place in the work area. For more information, visit the Mass.gov Newton-Weston bridge project webpages.
