The Wellesley Municipal Light Plant (WMLP) is encouraging residents to do their part to reduce energy use during the current hot temperatures.
Recommendations to help shave peak electric grid use include:
- Minimizing the use of air conditioners
- Turning off electric vehicle (EV) chargers and other appliances such as clothes dryers, dehumidifiers, pool filters
- Turning up thermostats just a few degrees
Peak energy use is predicted between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Choosing to follow some of these recommendations helps reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions during these very hot days.
