[ARCHIVED] Unlocked Car Break-Ins

UPDATE:  As of February 1, 2019 the Wellesley Police Department has identified the suspects involved in this case.  One has been arrested and the second is being sought by the police department.

The Wellesley Police Department is actively investigating a series of car burglaries in the Boulder Brook/Chesterton/Wingate Road neighborhood that occurred in the late evening or early morning of Saturday-Sunday January 12-13.

The victim’s vehicles were all parked in driveways and were unlocked.  Items removed from the vehicle included money, medication, and debit/credit cards.  There was a considerable delay of the thefts being reported to the police department.  Some of the stolen items were recovered on Route 9 by the Wellesley Police after being discarded by potential suspects following the thefts.

In another case, which occurred a few days later, a purse was removed from an unlocked car at a club on Wellesley Avenue.  This incident occurred during the day.

Please call the Wellesley Police Department immediately if you witness suspicious activity, especially if someone you don’t know is entering your parked vehicle in your driveway.  Locking car doors and taking wallets/purses inside will also reduce the chance of you becoming a victim.
