Here are some key things in Wellesley for the week of October 20, 2025.
Wellesley Strategic Housing Plan
The final version of the Wellesley Strategic Housing Plan is finished and incorporates much of the input received from everyone who completed the Community Engagement survey in October 2024 and from participants in two community forums held in November 2024. Read an executive summary of the Wellesley Strategic Housing Plan, and read the full final version of the Wellesley Strategic Housing Plan. This plan was developed in partnership with Town consultant Barrett Planning Group. The Select Board and Planning Board will review and accept the plan at a joint meeting on Tuesday, October 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall. Explore the Strategic Housing Plan process on the Town website.
Hydrant Flushing is October 20-24
The Water & Sewer Division is flushing water mains from October 20-24 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. This activity removes sediment build up and verifies that fire hydrants and valves are working properly. Water may be temporarily discolored due small particles dislodged during the flushing, and homes may see a slight reduction in water pressure. Discoloration of the water isn't harmful but may stain laundry. To help prevent this, avoid doing laundry during flushing hours and let cold water run for a minute or two to clear sediment. For questions or concerns, please email dpw@wellesleyma.gov
Flu Clinic is October 22
The Health Department is holding community flu clinics for individuals 16+. This week's clinic time and location is: Wednesday, October 22, Upham School (35 Wynnewood Road), 10 a.m. to noon. Use the Upham School flu clinic registration link to sign up in advance. Registration is encouraged and saves time, but walk-ins are also welcome. You may also register by calling the Health Department at 781-235-0135. Additional clinics are scheduled for October 30, November 4, and November 25.
Also, Drug and Sharps Take Back Day is Saturday, October 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring old and unused medication, needles/sharps to the Wellesley Police Department for safe disposal.
