[ARCHIVED] Winter Storm Update

alert-image.red

Wellesley is prepping for a significant amount of snow in the upcoming storm.

Wellesley Police and Fire Departments have additional staff on call. For emergencies, please call 9-1-1. For non-emergency help, contact the Wellesley Fire Department at 781-235-1300, and contact the Wellesley Police Department at 781-235-1212.

Read updated information and closure notices from Town departments.

Department of Public Works
Department of Public Works (DPW) crews have pre-treated roads with de-icing solution, and snow plows are ready. DPW will have multiple teams working throughout the storm. Please remember: DO NOT park cars on the street so snow plows can get by.

Main roads and sidewalks are plowed first to make sure emergency vehicles have access, and side roads and remaining sidewalks are cleared after this. This storm is expected to continue for a long time and plows will need to make multiple passes on roads. We appreciate your patience as you clear your driveways and property.

More information on winter weather operations is on the DPW Highway Division webpages. For questions or concerns, please email DPW but understand that a response may be delayed due to the storm.

Municipal Light Plant
The significant amount of snow may impact Wellesley Municipal Light Plant (WMLP) systems and operations. If you lose power, please call 781-235-7600. During the weekend, an answering service will take your call.

The WMLP will likely experience a high call volume, so please be brief and report your address only. If it is an emergency situation, please call 9-1-1.

If power outages occur, WMLP crews will work to restore electric service as quickly and safely as possible. For additional information on preparing and staying safe during and after the storm, visit the WMLP webpages.

Wellesley Free Libraries
The Wellesley Free Library main branch is CLOSED on Sunday, January 25 due to the snowstorm. No decision has been made yet on hours for Monday, January 26. Please check the Library website for updated information.

The Hills and Fells branch libraries are not open on Sundays or Mondays.

Wellesley Public Schools
All afternoon activities at Wellesley Public Schools (WPS) are canceled for Sunday, January 25. No closure decision has been made yet for Monday, January 26.

If WPS is delayed or closed, families will be notified via School Messenger phone calls and emails, and information will be posted on the WPS website. Local television and radio stations will also post closure information.

Wellesley Town Hall
No closure decision has been made yet for Wellesley Town Hall for Monday, January 26. However, non-essential staff have been asked to work remotely.

In-person meetings for Monday, January 26 will likely be moved to Zoom. Please check specific meeting agendas for information.

If a State of Emergency is declared for the Commonwealth, Town Hall will be closed and information posted on the Town of Wellesley website and social media accounts.

Please be safe in the storm. Stay off the roads and stay inside. (And Go Pats)!
