[ARCHIVED] New Officer Joins Wellesley Police

Chief Pilecki with Officer Mike Mankavech. The Wellesley Police Department welcomes new Officer Mike Mankavech to the department.  Officer Mankavech graduated from the 42nd Municipal Police Officers Class (MPOC) that was held at the MBTA Transit Police Academy in Quincy.  The police academy is approximately six months long and includes over 1000 hours of classroom and practical training.  39 new officers graduated from the academy on Wednesday, March 20, 2019.  Several other metropolitan Boston police agencies, including the MBTA, had officers graduate as well.

The ceremony was held at historic Faneuil Hall in Boston and was well attended by families, friends, and coworkers for the new officers.

Officer Mankavech was appointed to the department by the Wellesley Board of Selectmen in August of 2019.  He will now complete at least three months of in house and field training with senior Wellesley Police Officers.

There are three other Wellesley Police Officers presently attending police academies.  These officers will join the department once they graduate later this year.
