[ARCHIVED] "Lest We Forget" Memorial Day Observances on May 30

US Flag Backlit

The Town of Wellesley will hold Memorial Day Observances on Thursday, May 30 with two ceremonies honoring our departed veterans.

A ceremony at Woodlawn Cemetery (148 Brook Street) begins at 7 p.m. with a reading of the past year's departed veterans and a salute to the dead.

Following this program, a second ceremony will take place at the site of the Town's War Memorial on the front lawn of Wellesley Town Hall along Washington Street.

The schedule of events includes a reading of Wellesley citizens who lost their lives in service to our country, the presentation of the Town's War Memorial Scholarship awards, a reading of the past year's departed veterans and a salute to the dead, along with a Memorial Day speaker and a performance of America the Beautiful, written by Wellesley resident Katharine Lee Bates.

The community is invited to attend.

*In the event of severe inclement weather, these observances will be moved to the Wellesley Middle School Auditorium and begin at 7 p.m.
