On July 9, 2019 the Wellesley Police Department received a report indicating that an unknown male suspect may have taken inappropriate photographs of a minor child while using a shower at the Boston Sports Club on Great Plain Avenue in Wellesley.
Wellesley Police Officers and Detectives from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation immediately began investigating the report. During the investigation, with the assistance of Boston Sports Club staff, the suspect was identified. On July 22, 2019 at approximately 9:00 AM, the Wellesley Police Department executed a search warrant at 196 Washington Street, Wellesley. Detectives from the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (MetroLEC) Computer Crime Unit and NORPAC assisted in serving the search warrant.
As a result of the search warrant, 60-year old Barry Williams was arrested and charged at the scene with one count of secretly recording a child under the age of 18 in the nude or partially nude. This charge is a felony. Williams was booked at the Wellesley Police Department and then transported to Dedham District Court. Williams was arraigned at Dedham District Court and bail was set at $2,500.
The investigation is active and ongoing at this time. As such, no further details are being released at this time.
