Traffic detours are in place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. along Bacon Street between Central Street (Route 135) in Wellesley to Oak Street in Natick through Friday, August 9, due to a drinking water project.
The Town of Natick is cleaning and lining water mains along the roadway; these mains deliver drinking water from Natick wells to Wellesley.
Both communities are working together to coordinate the cleaning and rehabilitation effort.
The detour routes are as follows:
Vehicles traveling east on Rt 135 intending to turn onto Bacon Street will be detoured into Natick and directed to turn right onto Mansfield Street, then Marion Street then onto Bacon Street.
Vehicles traveling south on Oak Street in Natick and intending to turn down Bacon Street to Central Street (Rt 135) will be detoured through Marion Street and onto Rt 135 in Natick.
Bacon Street will reopen to traffic on Friday night, August 9.
Drivers may experience delays next week as traffic in the area may be restricted to one lane to complete the project.
