[ARCHIVED] UPDATED: WPD Continues to Investigate Fatal Car Crash on Route 9

On April 22, 2020 at approximately 7:32 p.m. the Wellesley Police Department, Wellesley Fire Department, and Cataldo Paramedics responded to a single vehicle crash at 457 Worcester Street.  A white pickup truck was believed to have been traveling west on Worcester Street at a high rate of speed when it veered off the roadway striking a stone wall.  The vehicle continued to travel west on Worcester Street until it struck a cement wall head on.

There were three (3) male occupants in the vehicle.  One male occupant, Mr. Patrick Cash, was ejected from the vehicle as it was traveling west on Worcester Street.  Mr. Cash was 18 years of age and was pronounced dead on scene as he suffered significant injuries when he was ejected from the vehicle.

The other two male occupants were initially trapped in the vehicle and were extricated by the Wellesley Fire Department.  These individuals were the driver of the vehicle and the rear passenger.  Both were transported to Boston area hospitals for treatment.  The 17-year-old driver was pronounced deceased at the hospital.  The 17-year-old rear passenger remains in the hospital with significant non-life threatening injuries.    Due to the age of the driver and rear passenger, their names are not being released.

The Wellesley Police Department will continue to work with the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office to investigate the crash.  The Wellesley Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Unit and Detective Unit will lead the investigation.
