The Wellesley Police Department is committed to strengthening our community bonds and helping meet hospital and patient needs through blood donations. Hosting this blood drive is our way of giving staff, colleagues and the community an opportunity to join us and save lives.
Blood is a perishable product and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community. The need for blood is constant. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds and most of us will need blood in our lifetime.
As hospitals resume surgical procedures and patient treatments that were temporarily paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic, donors are urged to give now to ensure blood products are readily available for patients. The American Red Cross has an urgent need for blood donations to prevent another blood shortage. Sign up to donate today and help ensure that patients in local hospitals have a supply of blood ready and waiting before an emergency occurs. There’s no better feeling than knowing that your blood donation may give someone a second chance at life.
