On Friday, September 11, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. Officer Mark DeBernardi stopped a grey Chevrolet Malibu for motor vehicle related offenses on Route 9 west near the Natick town line. Officers discovered that the female operator of the vehicle had an active warrant for her arrest issued by the Fall River District Court. The operator was placed under arrest at the scene without incident.
There were two other individuals in the vehicle, neither possessed a valid driver’s license. While officers were conducting an inventory of the vehicle and awaiting a tow truck, a firearm was discovered in the car. One of the passengers then fled on foot through the rear of a car dealership.
Officers began searching the area with the assistance of the Weston Police Department, Natick Police Department, and Massachusetts State Police. K-9 units from the Weston and State Police conducted multiple sweeps of the area. A helicopter from the State Police also participated in the search. The Needham Police Department assisted with other calls for service in Wellesley while the search was ongoing.
The suspect was not located during the search, which has subsequently been suspended at this time. The investigation, however, remains fluid and active.
