The Wellesley Police Department is pleased to announce that assessors from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission are scheduled to conduct an assessment of the department, to include policies and procedures, operations and facilities beginning on Tuesday, October 20th. The assessment is expected to last for three days. Verification by the Assessment Team that the department meets the Commission’s standards is part of a voluntary process to retain state Accreditation.
Accreditation status, which was initially obtained by the department in 2014, requires that the department meet 257 mandatory standards, and at least 69 of 125 optional standards. Achieving Accreditation is a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence.
