Cultural Council

The Wellesley Cultural Council (WCC) is the local presence of the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) and is a grassroots funding network supporting community-based projects in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences. Wellesley Cultural Council members are appointed by the Select Board, and aim to foster creative expression and bring art to a wider audience, including the next generation. The WCC awards annual grants to programs that enrich the culture and quality of life in Wellesley.

Grant applications are available each fall; individuals and organizations may apply. Funding decisions are based on local eligibility requirements determined by the WCC through a community input process. Average grants tend to be modest amounts and are often reimbursement-based, meaning applicants spend personal money on programs and if approved for a grant, applicants are reimbursed for those expenses.
