The Wellesley Water Division has taken the following immediate proactive measures:
The Water and Sewer Division partnered with Environmental Partners to develop an Interim PFAS filtration system for the Morses Pond Water Treatment Plant. A Temporary Granulated Activated Carbon (GAC) and Ion Exchange Filtration system (IX) was completed and put into service on June 17, 2022, and has successfully removed PFAS to the non-detect level since its start up.
Continuance of its monthly PFAS6 sampling protocols.
Engaged with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) toward fulfilling Wellesley’s regulatory obligations and the development of remedial actions necessary to reduce PFAS6 levels and protect public health.
Evaluation of appropriate treatment processes and consideration of supplemental or alternative water supplies.
To assist with the availability of public information, the Town has created webpages dedicated to PFAS6 outreach.
