The Department of Public Works routinely starts replacing and installing new sidewalks throughout Town between April and November of each year. This is part of the Town's Sidewalk Capital Improvement Plan.

Please watch out and use caution while traveling through or near these work locations. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this work may cause. We hope you will enjoy these improvements to your neighborhood once completed.

Shared Streets Grant Project - Spring 2026

Town of Wellesley has been approved for a $232,335 Shared Streets Grant Funding. Project involves extending the existing Wellesley Ave. sidewalk 1,500 ft. with 6 sidewalk ADA ramps and crosswalks from #180 Wellesley Ave to Ordway Road and the Babson College Bryant Way entrance. Surveying to be scheduled with construction to start Spring 2026.

Scheduled Sidewalk Projects 2026

  • Abbott Road – Install new ADA sidewalk ramps at Bemis Rd and Caroline Street, along with removing and replacing approximately 400 ft. of sidewalk
  • Arlington Rd @ Franklin Road – Install new ADA sidewalk ramps and replace approximately 100 sidewalk.
  • Atwood St. – Between Morton St. and Session St. , north side remove and replace 265 ft. of sidewalk and install new ADA sidewalk ramps.
  • Elmwood Road – Remove and Replace 600 ft. of sidewalk with new berm between #68 and 90 Elmwood Road.
  • Everett St. – Remove and replace 300 ft. of sidewalk with new berm.
  • Mansfield Rd. @ Worcester St. - Remove and Replace 220 ft. of sidewalk.
  • Martin Rd. – Install 925 ft. of new sidewalk from Elmwood Rd. to Brookfield Circle.
  • Mayo Rd. – Install 300 ft of new sidewalk from Weston Rd. to 9 Mayo Rd. (Part of Weston Rd. Project)
  • Mayo Rd. @ Upson Rd. path – Install new ADA sidewalk ramp and remove and replace 300 ft sidewalk 
  • Pilgrim Rd. @ Martin Rd. – Install new ADA sidewalk ramps
  • Pilgrim Rd. @ Weston Rd. – Install 80 ft. of new curbing and remove and replace 150 ft. of sidewalk (Part of Weston Rd. Project)
  • Westerly Rd. – Install new ADA sidewalk ramps at Pleasant St, Everett St. and remove and replace 600 ft. of sidewalk
  • Westerly Rd. – Install new ADA sidewalk ramps at Pleasant St, Everett St. and remove and replace 600 ft. of sidewalk

Completed Sidewalk Grant 2025

This spring the Town received a $500,000 Complete Street Grant from the State. The funds from this grant have allowed the department to complete three (3) projects below identified in the Town’s Complete Streets List.

  • Amherst Road - New Sidewalk, that will create a continues connection between Wellesley Avenue to Radcliff Road. – Completed in July 2025
  • Alba Road, Wall Street and Windemere Road - New Sidewalks, to complete missing gaps to create a connecting sidewalk from these roads to Linden Street sidewalk. – Completed July 2025
  • Dover Road & Ingraham Road - New Sidewalks, to complete missing gaps on the Ingraham Road sidewalk and extending the Dover Road sidewalk between Ingraham Road and Benvenue Street. – Completed August 2025

Completed Sidewalk Projects 2025

  • Elmwood Road @ Bates School Drop-off-  Install 70 ft. of a low-profile berm.
  • Elmwood Road @ Bates School-  Install (4) New ADA Sidewalk Ramps @ Crosswalk and parking lot entrance. Included was the removal and replacement of 400 ft. of sidewalk on north side, from the school. 
  • Elmwood Road @ Linwood Road-  Install (2) New ADA Sidewalk Ramps and remove and replace 200 ft. of sidewalk
  • Elmwood Road @ Martin Road-  Install (4) New ADA Sidewalk Ramps and remove and replace 200 ft. of sidewalk.
  • Elmwood Road @ Ingersoll Road-  Install (2) New ADA Sidewalk Ramps and remove and replace 100 ft. of sidewalk
  • Elmwood Road @ Cavanaugh Road-  Install (2) New ADA Sidewalk Ramps and remove and replace 160 ft. of sidewalk
  • Emerson Road-  Installing 100 of new sidewalk to connect Emerson Road sidewalk to Walnut Street sidewalk.
  • Everrett Street-  Remove and replace 200 feet of sidewalk and curb on the west side of street going north from Linden Street.
  • Fuller Brook Rd. Replace 200 ft. of sidewalk between #11 and #19 Fuller Brook Road
  • Linden Street / Between #277 - #279-  Replacing two (2) sections of Concrete Sidewalk and one (1) ADA Sidewalk Ramp. Completed August 2025
  • Linden Street @ Everrett Street-  Replaced two sections of concrete sidewalk and five (5) ADA sidewalk ramps.
  • Linden Street @ Kingsbury Street – Removed and replaced 5 – ADA Sidewalk Ramp panels.
  • Linwood Road / Elmwood Rd. to Pilgrim-  Install (4) New ADA Sidewalk Ramps at Pilgrim Rd. and remove and replace 350 ft. of sidewalk. On both sides of the street.
  • Longfellow Road – Delete moved to another year. Keep – Replace 250 ft of sidewalk from #7 Longfellow Rd. to Washington Street.
  • Oakland Street - Between Rt-9 and Washington Street, R\replace 250 ft. of sidewalk and installed 2 -ADA sidewalk ramps at the Woodlawn Ave. intersection.
  • Woodlawn Avenue @ Hundreds Road – Installed 3 new ADA sidewalk ramps.

Completed Sidewalk Projects 2024

  • Abbott Road @ Clovelly -  Install 2 new ADA sidewalk ramps and remove and replace 320 ft. of sidewalk on Abbott Rd. & Overlay 110 ft. of sidewalk on Clovelly Road.
  • Atwood Street @ Session Street -  Install 1 new ADA sidewalk ramps and remove and replace 250 ft of sidewalk on north side Attwood Street between Sessions St. & State St., and 80 ft. on Sessions Street
  • Barton Road #85. Remove and Replace Concrete Driveway Apron
  • Bowdoin Rd @ Rutgers Road –  Install 2 New ADA Sidewalk Ramps and Remove and Replace 500 ft. of sidewalk
  • Brook St #60  -  Remove and replace 160 ft. of asphalt sidewalk
  • Cleveland Road @ Alhambra Road -  Install (2) New Sidewalk Ramps and Remove and Replace 200 ft. of sidewalk.
  • Cleveland Road @ Earle Road -  Install (4) - New ADA Sidewalk Ramps and Remove and Replace 300 ft. of sidewalk
  • Cleveland Road @ Linwood Road – Install (6) - New ADA Sidewalk Ramps and Remove and Replace 200 ft. of sidewalk
  • Cleveland Road @ Martin Road -  Install (4) New ADA Sidewalk Ramps and Remove and Replace 200 ft. of sidewalk.
  • Cleveland Road / Martin Road to Earle Road-  Remove and Replacement of 250 ft. of sidewalk
  • Cleveland Road @ Massasoit Road –  Install (4) - New ADA Sidewalk Ramps and Remove and Replace 200 ft. of sidewalk
  • Cleveland Road / Weston Rd to Martin Road -  Remove and Replacement of 965 ft. of sidewalk
  • Colburn Road @ Brown Park. Install 1 ADA sidewalk ramp and remove and replace 200 ft. of sidewalk and low-profile berm. Then stall 300 ft. dense graded gravel paths in Park to improve ADA accessibility.
  • Crown Ridge Road #35 -  Install 100 ft. on new asphalt sidewalk to connect missing section of sidewalk to Granite Street and Crosswalk
  • Earle Road #6, #8 and #18 -  Install 270 ft. on new asphalt sidewalk to connect missing sections of sidewalk.
  • Fuller Brook Road #48 -  Install 100 ft. on new asphalt sidewalk to connect missing section of sidewalk and new ADA sidewalk ramp at Wildon Road.
  • Hickory Rd. @ Woodbine -  Install new ADA sidewalk Ramp
  • Martin Road / Cleveland Rd. to Brookfield Circle -  Install (1) New ADA Sidewalk Ramp and remove and replace 300 ft. of sidewalk on east side of road.
  • Pilgrim Road @ Rutgers Road –  Install (2) - New Sidewalk Ramps
  • Pinewood Road @ Pinewood Circle -  Install (2)- New ADA Sidewalk Ramps and Remove and Replace 100 ft. of sidewalk
  • Wellesley Ave @ Atwood St. -  Replace ADA sidewalk ramp at N.E. corner of intersection to properly line up crosswalk with new pedestrian crossing traffic signal.
  • Wellesley Ave. @ Brook Street -  Remove and replace concrete ADA sidewalk ramp and 100 ft. of asphalt sidewalk on Brook Street
